A volunteer organisation, BRFU are committed to growing the rugby family in Bermuda.

And now that Rugby Sevens is a part of the Olympics in 2016 & 2020, BRFU aim to put into place and maintain programmes that allow the youth of Bermuda a chance and an opportunity to take part in the sport and future Olympics.

Bringing back some of the explosive and exciting nature of the game, Sevens is easy to watch and for those who are unfamiliar with the sport, easy to understand. It is hoped that its inclusion in the Olympics will help with the globalisation of the game and the number of countries that will be playing it.

Bermuda Rugby have recently enjoyed a rebrand of their logo and identity through a partnership with Viper 10 Sportswear, which has seen their rugby teams benefit from new and exciting Viper 10 Rugby kit designs. Hertfordshire Mavericks will kick off Phase 2 of their campaign against Celtic Dragons on Sat 13 April, 4pm at Hertfordshire Sports Village, Hatfield.

The last time these two teams met it ended in a 48-48 draw, the only draw in Phase 1 of the competition, so both teams will be keen to take the spoils from this encounter. Further home fixtures follow on Monday 22 April vs Surrey Storm, 8pm SKY TV Match and Friday 3 May, 8pm vs TeamBath.

Showing fantastic consistency throughout the match, England sealed a first test victory denying the Sunshine Girls the opportunity to take the lead. The touring party now look ahead to tomorrow morning's second match and a chance to quickly wrap up a Series win.

Run by Mavericks Head Coach and Former England International, Karen Atkinson the Coaching Workshops will give you the opportunity to engage with other coaches and PE teachers on what is required to get your up and coming players to that next level.

The day will consist of two court sessions as well as a theory session.

You will also have the opportunity to stay and get involved with the Hertfordshire Mavericks Senior Training session in the evening.

This course is appropriate for all levels of coaching abilities. Maybe you wish to improve your skills and drills repertoire, improve the tactical knowledge of your school or club team, or work out what fundamental skills your players need to make it to the top. There will be something for everyone!

Scotland got the tournament underway when they faced the Irish Universities. Batting first the Irish found runs difficult against an experienced Scottish Students side which featured three full Scotland caps, Craig Wallace, Calvin Burnett and Ewan Chalmers. Ireland could only muster 87 for 4 from their ten overs and Chalmers was the pick of the home attack taking 2 for 12 from his three over spell.

Scotland's next match saw the clash of the ‘Auld Enemy’ and Scottish Students batting first found runs more difficult to come by against tight English bowling, however they finished with a respectable total of 121 for 5. Scotland's final match against Holland saw them plunder runs against the Dutch attack, Wallace (25*) and Chalmers (26*) both retired not out as the home side raced to 163 for 2. In reply the Dutch could only muster 87 for 4 and the Scottish Celebrations began!

Scottish Students Calvin Burnett was adjudged player of the tournament by the umpires for his fine all round performances. Congratulations from all at Viper 10 Sportswear!

Competing in their brand new Viper 10 rugby kit, the team were very proud to win the Shield Final in only the second tournament where a women's team from Bermuda has competed in the past 4 years.

Having already secured their spot at Bournemouth 7s Festival, Bermuda Women are now looking to grow their numbers and compete in multiple 7s tournaments in 2013.
